The part nobody tells you

You take the vitamin C. You go to bed early. You still feel like you are winging it.

You are drinking the water, eating real food, getting sunshine, and taking the extra vitamin C every winter.

You have heard that herbs can support immune health. What you have not heard is which ones, in what form, or why.

So you go looking for answers and find a hundred articles that contradict each other, most of them written to sell you a bottle of something at $34 a jar.

What actually supports immune health is the one part nobody explains clearly.

So why does the same advice keep failing you?

In twenty years of teaching herbalism, I have watched the same five things trip people up. See if any of them sound like your house.

01

You are chasing the symptom instead of the terrain

Most of us were taught to ask "which herb for which ailment," the same way you would ask which pill for which symptom.

So you end up with a cabinet full of half-used bottles. And no clear idea which one to reach for. Herbalists work the other way around. We start with the whole person, and the life they are living.

02

You are buying what you could be making

A small bottle of elderberry syrup runs $20 to $30. Fire cider is $18 for eight ounces.

You can make a half gallon of elderberry fire cider for a few dollars. It takes an onion, a head of garlic, a piece of horseradish, a handful of dried elderberries, and a jug of apple cider vinegar.

03

Nobody explained modulators versus stimulators

Two different categories of herb, and they are not interchangeable.

Modulators, like astragalus and elderberry: herbalists describe these as gentle and supportive, and traditionally use them as daily tonics.

Stimulators, like echinacea: traditionally used for short stretches rather than year round.

Most people use both groups the same way. That is the mix-up I see most often in my students.

04

Your preparations taste bad, so nobody takes them

A tincture that sits in the cupboard does nothing for anyone. If your family will not touch it, the recipe failed, no matter how good the herbs were.

05

You are starting too late in the year

Fire cider needs two to four weeks to steep. Infused honey needs two. Making these is autumn work, not January work.

If you start the week you want to use it, it is not ready.

What changes everything

Pasteur said the germ causes the illness. Bernard said the body you bring to the germ decides the outcome.

Louis Pasteur gave us germ theory. It gave us antibiotics and vaccines. His friend Claude Bernard argued something else. He said the body the germ lands in matters more than the germ itself. Herbalists have found that idea useful ever since.

You cannot control which germs come through your front door in January. You do get to choose how you sleep, what you eat, and how you handle stress. That is where this workshop puts your attention. Along with the herbs and oils herbalists have long used to support immune health.

Inside the workshop

Three parts, and you can start any of them tonight

Part one

The video lesson: Understanding the Immune System

It runs about an hour. I teach it the way I taught school for years, in plain language, with the science behind it. This is the part that makes every herb choice later make sense.

  • Innate and acquired immunity, and why a fever is often your body doing its job
  • The cascade theory and the hygiene theory, and what each says about allergies today
  • The gut microbiome, stress, sleep and dehydration as causes of weakened immunity
  • Modulators, stimulators, and which mushrooms and adaptogens go in each group
  • Herb guidelines by body area: sinuses, throat, lungs and the digestive tract
  • Immune conditions worth knowing about before you hand anyone an herb

It comes with a printable 26 page handout. One slide per page, with lines beside it. So you can watch with a pen in your hand.

Part two

The book: Your Body's Invisible Army

43 pages, illustrated, meant to be printed and marked up. It holds the whole workshop in text. So you have something to grab in February, when you cannot remember whether it was goldenrod or nettle.

  • Every herbal preparation and recipe from the course, written out with measurements
  • The vitamin and mineral rich herbs worth adding to your daily tea
  • Lymph movers, and why sluggish lymph slows your recovery
  • Ten essential oils for immune support, with the studies behind each one
  • A full reference list, including Hoffmann, Groves, Winston and Maimes, so you can keep reading

Part three

Six projects you make yourself, filmed start to finish

You watch over my shoulder in my kitchen, mess and all. Every one is flexible and forgiving. And they taste good enough that your family will actually eat them.

Elderberry Fire Cider

Homemade Thieves Blend

Astragalus Candy Electuaries

Thyme Wellness Honey

Immuni-Tea

Southwest Immune Soup

"The Invisible Army Immune System course was very helpful, and I love all the recipes."

Pam Hammond, student

By the end of one weekend

Here is what is different in your kitchen

A shelf, not a shopping list

A half gallon of fire cider steeping. A jar of infused honey in the window. Electuaries in the fridge, and a bottle of thieves blend ready for the diffuser. You made all of it, for a fraction of what that shelf costs at the store.

A reason behind every choice

You will know why clove has been used in throat preparations for centuries. What researchers are studying limonene in lemon for. And why herbalists reach for echinacea differently than astragalus. That thinking carries over to every body system you study next.

Fewer products you did not make

A diffuser blend you mixed yourself, instead of a shelf of aerosol sprays. Fewer bottles with labels you cannot pronounce. And less money going to them.

And you are finished with

The indoor season routines you will not miss

  • Standing in the store aisle reading a label you do not understand
  • Paying $28 for four ounces of elderberry syrup you could have made for $6
  • Wondering whether you are using an herb the way herbalists actually use it
  • Buying a bottle because the ad sounded good
  • Sending your kids back to school wondering if there could be more you could do
Everything you get today

A printable handout so you can watch with a pen in your hand

What people do with it

"I absolutely love making your recipes. I have been making many of the variations with herbal additives and essential oils. Thank you so much for all the inspiration and information."

Sylvia Dunn, student

"I made almost all of the products, watched all the videos, and printed out the books and bonuses. I loved them!"

Lois Cooper, student

Student comments reflect their own experience with the workshop and are not typical of any particular outcome. Nothing on this page is a promise about your health, and no herb or essential oil described here is offered to treat, cure or prevent any condition.

Is this the right workshop for you?

This is for you if

  • You are new to herbs and want a real foundation, not just a list of recipes
  • You have been using herbs for a while but never learned why they work
  • You want to make things with your hands and your kids
  • You are trying to spend less on over the counter products
  • You are studying herbalism and want the immune system covered properly

This is not for you if

  • You want a treatment protocol for a diagnosed condition. This workshop is educational and does not diagnose or treat anything.
  • You want a certification. This is a workshop, not a credentialing program.
  • You are not willing to spend an afternoon in your kitchen.
Heidi Villegas, herbalist and aromatherapist
Your teacher

Hello, I am Heidi Villegas

I spent over a decade on one antibiotic after another for severe rosacea, and the infections that followed.

Bronchitis every year, twice some years. Pneumonia twice. My gut was wrecked and I had no idea that was the reason.

When I finally took my health into my own hands and started learning about herbs and essential oils, things changed for me. I cleaned up my home, my skincare and my cabinet. I feel better today than I did at thirty. That is my own experience, not a prediction about yours.

I am a community and clinical herbalist, a professional level aromatherapist, a homesteader, a grandmother, and a former classroom teacher.

I run the School of Botanical Arts and Sciences, and I teach so other people can find better health than they thought they could have.

Before you enroll

Questions people ask

How long does it take to get through?

The main video lesson runs about an hour. The six project videos are short, five to twelve minutes each. Most people watch the lesson in one sitting and then make the recipes over a weekend. You have lifetime access, so you can also spread it out.

Do I need special herbs or equipment?

Most of it is grocery store material: onion, garlic, ginger, horseradish, honey, apple cider vinegar, nut butter, cinnamon, cayenne, thyme. The pieces you may need to order are dried elderberries, astragalus root and a few essential oils. I tell you what can be left out or swapped in every recipe, because I leave things out myself on camera when my cupboard is short.

I am brand new to herbalism. Will I be lost?

No. This was built as an introduction. I taught elementary and middle school for years and I teach the same way now, starting from the beginning and explaining the terms as they come up.

Are these recipes appropriate for children?

The electuaries, the honey, the tea and the soup are made from culinary herbs and foods. The essential oil recipes carry age guidance in the lessons: eucalyptus radiata rather than globulus for younger children, diffusing rather than roller bottles under age ten, and the chest rub formulated for ages 15 and up. I cover dilution as I go. Check with your child's own medical practitioner before using herbs or essential oils with them.

Is this the same course that sells for $77?

Yes. Same videos, same book, same bonuses. The price is lower so more people can start.

How long do I have access?

Forever. It sits in your Kajabi library and you can come back to it every autumn. The book and handout are downloadable, so print them and keep them in your kitchen.

What is your refund policy?

All sales are final on this digital workshop. Because you get the videos, the book and the handout right away, and can download and keep them, I am not able to offer refunds. Please read this page carefully so you know what you are getting before you buy. If you have a question about whether it is right for you, email support@healingharvesthomestead.com and I will answer it.

Can this replace my doctor?

No, and it is not meant to. I am an herbalist and an aromatherapist, not a medical doctor. This workshop is educational and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything. It also covers the situations where medical care is the right call. Talk with your medical practitioner before using herbs or essential oils, particularly if you take prescription medication, are pregnant, or are managing a diagnosed condition.
