Hi, I'm Heidi Villegas, and if you'd told me 21 years ago that I'd be running a successful online herbalism and aromatherapy school from home, I would have said you're crazy.
2005: I was sick and felt terrible. I ate well, I tried to make sure I was sleeping. I worked out. I had no idea why I felt so sick and awful all the time nor why my blood pressure was through the roof (and neither did doctors). I was desperate for health, and I was only about 41 years old--way too young to feel (and look) the way I did.
I didn't come to herbalism at that late stage in life for fun, nor because it was "trendy" (it wasn't back then). The truth is, I had significant health issues and decades of medical failures.
I remember sitting at my dining room table thinking: Why do I feel exhausted and half dead? Why won't my rosacea or back pain ever go away? Why does my stomach always hurt? What's wrong with me?
BOOM! I made a bold move out of desperation. I got off all the Rx and OTC medications and turned to learning about holistic health and herbal medicine instead. It was a long, slow process because back then, there were no herbalism teachers and the internet was a baby. There was nobody to help me.
I didn't have a mentor, and it took me YEARS to bring it all together.
But here's the thing: I didn't have the luxury of giving up. At first I was a single mom. Then, I had a small homestead with livestock, a large garden, and I needed to be active, vibrant, and ALIVE.
So, I kept learning and experiencing God's medicinal plants. I created products for myself, my clients, and for the customers of my products shop. I shared. These plant medicines worked for me....and for others too!
2012, about 14 years ago, I began teaching and writing about these valuable herbalist skills that God granted me through the knowledge of His gifts of amazing medicinal plants!
The thing is....I was building a life of health and joy for myself, and I was helping others become healthier and happier too! This has become my mission in life.
